Soft sebinis for you ✨️💕
belle-spring-deactivated2023080:
A nice detail about the game is after you visit the Scriptorium and get Salazar Slytherin’s book (and even as soon as you first enter the Undercroft), you’ll notice the chalkboards slowly fill up with Sebastian’s research.
You can see him desperately looking for a cure for Anne and angrily drawing X’s, scribbling everything he can and erasing some parts. You can even see the symbol of Ancient Magic.
He writes in Ancient Greek, Phoenician, Aramaic (an older sister language of Hebrew aka the language Jesus spoke), Cyrillic and other languages I can’t make out. As well as Alchemy symbols (a “secret” subject reserved for older students at Hogwarts.) You can tell both of his parents were professors who passed down their love of learning to him.
He also seems to have an interest in Astronomy (this could be where Sebastian and Amit being friends comes in handy), as well as Geometry and other esoteric things. You’d think he was a Ravenclaw looking at it.
Interestingly, Sebastian’s name is also Ancient Greek in origin. (Sebastian comes from the Greek name Σεβαστιανός / Sebastianos.) His uncle Solomon’s name is Hebrew derived from Aramaic and Ancient Greek as well. Solomon’s name stands for “Peace” = shalom, which could probably be ironic in this case. But it could also stand for Sebastian literally destroying the peace between himself and Anne after he kills his uncle. He also shares his name with the king of Israel and one of the most powerful leaders of the Middle East to ever exist, King Solomon. (Syriac: ܫܠܡܐ / Arabic: سليمان.)
In fact, the spell “avada kedavra” is a different spelling of the Aramaic phrase “avra kehdabra” = “I will create as I speak” or “perish as I speak.” (This is where the magic term ‘abracadabra’ comes from.) It’s fitting that Sebastian was the one to cast it, considering he’s fluent and it could possibly tie into his family’s background.
Anyways we stan a smart and multilingual king. 😂
To add one last detail to this thread, Anne’s name is also Hebrew (חַנָּה) like Solomon’s name, and it stands for “Forgiving, Merciful, Grace.” Which if it’s intentional, it’s a good bit of writing and it’s promising towards her forgiving him in the future.
This meaning lines up with Anne covering up Solomon’s murder to protect Sebastian, burying Solomon beside the house, and leaving Sebastian a letter saying she will always love him but has to run away.
“Forever.”
This was for my fic but I’m still struggling with the chapter to this day😭
it’s time for Amitt Thakkar! 😎
